Ricky Jorgensen is by no means any ordinary man. As a successful
business owner in the Heating & Air Conditioning field, Ricky was
afforded one of his favorite pastimes, flying. At the age of thirty-two,
Ricky received his private pilot's license. With his license in hand,
Ricky flew At every opportunity available to him when work &
weather permitted.
Ricky flew five different aircraft in his tenure as a pilot & was
involved in experimental aircraft. Having starting to build his own
plane, Ricky soon found that between work and flying, there just
wasn't much time available to build. So after searching for several
months, Ricky found a two place aircraft named the Sonerai. The
owner of the plane flew it from Georgia to Ricky at his home in
Victoria, Texas. The fun began. For two months Ricky flew at every
opportunity availed to him. He was having a love affair with his
plane as would any pilot with their first plane that they owned.
On May 31st of 2000, Ricky was preparing for a cross country flight
when shortly after take-off something went terribly wrong. The
aircraft suddenly went in to a spinning dive. Ricky did everything
possible in order to recover from this fatal situation to no avail. The
aircraft impacted the ground at 186 mph. Ricky said as he was
falling toward the earth his whole life passed in front of him.
He thought about his wife and their daughter. He also say's that he
heard a voice tell him,"whether you live or die, everything will be
alright", then the plane impacted the ground. By some miracle Ricky
was alive and alert, however he had been seriously injured.
After taking firefighters 45 minutes to get Ricky out of the aircraft, he
was airlifted to a nearby hospital. Ricky suffered from multiple
fractures in both of his legs including a compound fracture at his
right ankle also known as an aviators fracture, Ricky was loosing
blood fast.
Doctors were concerned that Ricky may have needed to have both
of his legs removed due to the severity of the damage to both of his
knee's. Both of them had been broken to bit's. However one
surgeon was determined to save Ricky's legs. After an extremely
long operation Ricky's legs had been stabilized with external
fixators, which are long screws penetrating the legs into the bone
with rod's connected to them on the outside.
There was still a very strong concern whether Ricky would make it
through the night. However Ricky made it through the night and
spent several day's in intensive care before going to a regular room
where he spent the next three week's. Ricky faced a long road
ahead of him and now found himself confined to a wheelchair.
Unable to operate his business anymore Ricky soon found himself
in financial ruin. He lost his business, home, land and vehicles. With
all of that on top of him he also faced eleven operation's through the
next three and a half years in order to repair the damage to Ricky's
legs.
During this time Ricky had been been diagnosed with post
traumatic stress disorder and was admitted to a psychiatric ward for
severe depression. Ricky found himself again in a fight for his life.
Finally after completing all of the operations Ricky started to regain
some order in his life. Knowing that he would spend the rest of his
life in a wheelchair, Ricky resigned to that fact and accepted it.
During this time Ricky had met someone who was a wire artist and
offered to teach Ricky this fine art. Ricky soon found himself getting
every book or video related to this art and soon started making
pieces and they were selling. Ricky say's that through his artwork
he began to feel his sense of worth return to him and that he truly
felt alive again.
Today Ricky is back at the top of his game. As a successful wire
artist, Ricky is now doing two show's a month where he has
established a loyal clientel.
Ricky has also produced his first instructional dvd which has been
picked up and now in the catalog of a major supplier of wire
working supplies. Ricky's jewelry and dvd have and are now being
sold internationally.
Ricky say's as he was plummeting toward the earth when his plane
went out of control he heard a voice loud and clear tell him "Ricky
whether you live or die, everything will be alright"
TODAY BY THE GRACE OF A POWER GREATER THAN ME, MY
LIFE IS RESTORED BEYOND MY WILDEST DREAMS, I AM ALL
RIGHT.................................
